Description

This creamy parmesan orzo with seared NY strip is a rich, restaurant-quality dish made right at home. Perfectly seared, juicy steak is served over a bed of velvety parmesan orzo that’s infused with garlic, butter, and savory flavors. The orzo cooks up creamy and tender, almost like risotto, making it the perfect base for the bold, caramelized crust of the steak. Ingredients

Steak

Garlic Parmesan Orzo

Instructions

  1. Cook the Steak

Pat steaks dry and season generously with salt, pepper, and steak seasoning.

Heat a skillet over medium-high heat until hot. Sear steaks for about 4 minutes per side without moving them for a good crust.

  1. During the last 1 minute of cooking, add butter and a crushed garlic clove to the pan. Tilt the pan and baste the steaks continuously with the melted butter.

Remove steaks from the pan and let them rest. Do not discard the butter or juices in the skillet.

  1. Build the Orzo Base

In the same skillet, add 1 tablespoon butter.Sauté minced shallot and garlic for about 2 minutes until fragrant.

Add orzo and toast for about 1 minute, stirring constantly.

  1. Cook the Orzo

Pour in chicken broth and bring to a boil.Reduce heat to a simmer, cover, and cook for about 10 minutes, stirring halfway through.

If needed, add extra broth 1/4 cup at a time until orzo is tender and creamy.

  1. Stir in heavy cream and parmesan cheese until smooth and creamy.Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  1. Combine & Finish

Slice rested steak and return it to the skillet along with all the juices. Gently mix everything together or place steak on top. Top with parsley if desired and serve immediately.

Note

Tips for Best Results

  • Let steak come to room temperature for even cooking
  • Don’t rush the sear—it builds flavor
  • Stir orzo frequently so it doesn’t stick
  • Add broth gradually if it gets too thick
