Instructions

Make the dough

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.Add olive oil, salt, and flour. Mix until a dough forms, then knead for 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic.Cover and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

Prepare the Filling

  1. In a small bowl, mix melted butter, minced garlic, and parsley. Set aside.

Assemble the Stromboli

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F.

  1. Divide dough into two portions (or roll out store-bought dough).Roll each piece into a large rectangle on a lightly floured surface.

  1. Brush the garlic butter evenly over the dough, leaving a small border.Layer meats evenly, then top generously with shredded cheese.

  1. Carefully roll the dough lengthwise into a log, sealing the edges and ends. Place seam-side down on a lined baking sheet.

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together one egg and 1 tsp of water to make egg wash. Brush both Stromboli with egg wash, covering all sides. Then, using a knife, make 2-3 slits in each of your Stromboli. 

Bake

  1. Bake at 400°F for 25 minutes, or until golden brown and bubbly.

    Let rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
